Four More Posts filled In the FSM Reorganization

Palikir, POHNPEI (FSM Information Services): February 21, 2008 - On February 18, 2008 another oath of office took place in the president conference room where president Manny Mori again administrates the oath of office to four more of his Congressional confirmed nominees.

The four who sworn into office are: Mr. Peter M. Christian, who sworn in as Secretary for the Department of Resources and Development; Mr. Francis Itimai, as the Secretary for the Department of Transportation, Communications and Infrastructure; Dr. Rufino Mauricio, Director of the new Office of National Archives, Culture and Historic Preservation and Mr. Yosiwo P. George who is sworn in as the Ambassador for the Federated States of Micronesia to the Government of the United States of America.

Each of them has his own qualification and they came aboard with a vast consignment of experiences. With these capabilities, to name a few, they will venture their new posts.

Mr. Peter M. Christian was the Chairmen of the FSM Fuel Task Force/The Petro Corps. Prior to that Mr. Christian was a congressman, a long-time Senator of the FSM Congress. And he is one of the few successful businessmen on the island.

Mr. Itimai was the Public Sector Capacity Building Roadmap & FSM Training Coordinator (FSM Department of Finance, Division of Personnel), and prior to that he was the Director of Planning & Budget/State Disaster Coordinator for the state of Yap. He also served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Fisheries at the Department of Economic Affairs of the National Government for 10 years prior to moving to Yap.

Mr. Itimai graduated from Park University (Park College) Parkville, Missouri with a BA in Business Administration, with a focus on management.

As for Dr. Mauricio, he was the Assistant Secretary for the Division of Social Affairs. Before that he was the FSM National Historic preservation officer.

Dr. Mauricio Received his Ph.D in Anthropology from the University of Oregon, Eugene.

Finally, Mr. Yosiwo P. George is Administrator, FSM Health Insurance Plan, and prior to that he was Chief Justice, Kosrae State Court. He was once FSM Ambassador/Permanent Rep. to the United Nations in New York. He also was a two term Governor of Kosrae and a Senator at the 10th FSM Congress.

Mr. George went to school at various Universities; University of Guam, University of Hawaii, Manoa Campus, University of New Mexico, Albuquerque and Ball State University, Indiana.
