CHUUK (FSM Information Service): May 2001 - On May 02, 2001, the State of Chuuk inaugurated its re-elected Leadership of Governor, Dr. Ansito Walter and Lieutenant Governor, Manuel D. Sound, along with members of the Sixth Chuuk Legislature.

Held at the Anderson Baseball Field, the ceremonies assembled dignitaries and officials from throughout the Federated States of Micronesia as well as the neighboring Micronesian nations.

President Leo A. Falcam of the FSM and President Tommy Remengesau Jr. of the Republic of Palau were among the many dignitaries in attendance at the morning ceremonies. Members of the Diplomatic Missions to Micronesia were also witnesses to the beginning of the Governor's second term of Administration.

Governor Walter pledged his administrations commitment to " ensure Integrity, Honesty and Transparency in the government operations" and further stated that growth must be a collaborative effort from all citizens.

The resounding theme of his administration's commitment is, " Ekichu, Tipechu me Angechu non Pungirofonu," which translates into: Unity in Thoughts, Unity in Hearts and Unity in Deeds with Love, Honesty and profound respect for one another.

The Governor committed his administration to preserving a clean government of strict fiscal accountability, and wise use of the limited financial resources. He added that the backbone of the Chuuk government depends "on the success of the local economy, the private sector," and this sector will be one his administration is committed to support and expand to ensure social and economic prosperity.

Walter also reiterated the importance of education and quality health as the two main areas his administration will keep focusing on.

The Governor concluded his remarks with a plea to his people to "strive and relentlessly be united in thoughts, in hearts, and in deeds to make Chuuk the most enjoyable and peaceful place where people have profound love and respect for one another."
