Kosrae's to hold 3rd Education Awareness Week
PALIKIR, Pohnpei (Kosrae Visitor's Bureau/FSM Information Service): May 17, 2002 - The 3rd Kosrae Educational Awareness Week has been scheduled for next week, according to information received from Kosrae Visitors Bureau.
The Education Awareness Week will host series of events ranging from cultural presentations to debates to the all time favorite sports competitions. The culmination of the week will be the awards and ceremonies that are hoped to assemble the island at the Kosrae Sports Complex.
DAY ONE (Monday, May, 20, 2002) - Morning time will have a opening ceremony from 8 to 11. Then a high school debate competition to follow after free lunch. After the debate competition, we will have cultural presentations to close out the day by all 6 schools on Kosrae. Venue will be at the Kosrae Sports Complex.
DAY TWO (Tuesday, May 21, 2002) - Fun and games day at each own schools. No functions at the Kosrae Sports Complex. Venues are at each own schools in each of the 4 municipalities.
DAY THREE (Wednesday, May 22, 2002) - Speech competition and school/vocational/cultural show from 9:30 to 11:30 AM. Then awards for the previous two days to be presented after free lunch. Venue will be at the Kosrae Sports Complex.
DAY FOUR ( Thursday, May 23, 2002) - Kosrae Schools Track & Field competition finals - all elementary and secondary schools. Morning will have a marching in and opening ceremony. Then the race (100 meter race, 200 meter race, 60 meter race, other field games) begins from 8:30 to 4:30 with an half hour break for lunch and will again be continue next day. The track and field competition will take two days to complete. Many vendors and concessions stands will be set up all around the premises. Local food and foriegn food will be sold as takeouts and drinks too. All of the island population will be present for this day, its considered to be the biggest event for this year. Venue at the Kosrae Sports Complex.
DAY FIVE ( Friday, May 24, 2002) - Kosrae Schools Track & Field competition finals continue (high jumps, relay, etc). Morning will have a marching in and opening ceremony. The unfinished events will be completed on this day including awards from 8:30 to 4:30. Venue at the Kosrae Sports Complex.
