Cholera update shows 2287 people treated

POHNPEI, Palikir (FSM Information Service): July 2000 - The figures keep their seesaw pattern, but the number of people treated for suspected cholera as of July 20 stand at 2,287.

The Pohnpei State Hospital Suspected Cholera list printed July 21 show that since April 17 to July 20, 1,141 people have been treated for suspected cholera at the Outpatient Department/Emergency Room at the hospital; 519 people have been admitted to the hospital for suspect cholera; 586 have been treated for suspected cholera at dispensaries in Pohnpei State, and 41 people have been treated for suspected cholera at any one of the private clinics in the state.

On July 18, 33 people were treated, but the number was cut in half when on 16 were treated on July 19; however, on July 20, the number treated jumped to 31.

Of the 2,287 people who have been treated, some people are reported more than once because they were treated for the disease more than once, according to the medical record report.
