Ambassador Susaia Meets with China Education Association for International Exchange

Beijing, China (FSM Embassy, Beijing): July 22, 2010 - To further promote the bilateral relation between the Federated States of Micronesia and China, His Excellency Ambassador Akillino H. Susaia met with Mr Lin Zuoping, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE) and his staff at the New Otani Hotel to discuss possible cooperation with the FSM.

Since the last meeting in May 2009, the association and the Embassy had agreed to look into the possibility of working with the College of Micronesia-FSM to explore academic programs and areas they can work together on. During the meeting, Ambassador Susaia and the Deputy Secretary-General Lin exchanged views on education, and put forth ideas that our two countries could cooperate on, such as teacher and student exchanges in the fields of agriculture, tourism, and computer science. Both sides agreed on the importance of having exchanges and that a visit to the Federated States of Micronesia is necessary by the officials of CEAIE. Deputy Secretary-General Lin proposed to Ambassador that he would like to lead a team to visit the FSM in October 2010. Ambassador Susaia welcomed the Deputy Secretary-General's proposal and has agreed to work closely with the association to facilitate the visit to the FSM and to ensure that the delegation meets with all the relevant authorities in the FSM.

Present during the meeting were First Secretary Vincent Sivas, Deputy Director Sun Jianing, Deputy Program Director Zhang Yun, and Program Officer Song Bicheng.
