National Prayer Day

Palikir, POHNPEI (FSM Information Service): August 29, 2008 - A Presidential Proclamation declaring the last Thursday of November as National Prayer Day was declared on August 25, 2008 by His Excellency Manny Mori, President of the Federated States of Micronesia.

The Proclamation in its entirety reads:

ACKNOWLEGING, with grateful hearts the many blessings the Almighty God has bestowed upon the people of the Federated States of Micronesia;

ACKNOWLEDGING, the significant role Christianity has played in the peaceful and harmonious coexistence amongst a people of diverse cultures;

REAFFIRMING, the common continual wish to render our sincere and humble gratitude to the Lord for his blessings and to implore for His protection and favour;

REAFFIRMING, our common desire to maintain this nation a nation firmly stands for religious values and virtue; and

WHEREAS, it has become a common practice to celebrate the last Thursday of November as a day of thanksgiving;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY DECLARED that the last Thursday of November shall be recognized as FSM National Prayer Day, now and in perpetuity.
