Swearing in ceremony for newly confirmed nominees

Palikir, Pohnpei (FSM Information Services): October 6, 2011 - On October 5, President Manny Mori administered the oath of office for five of the ten nominees who have been confirmed by Congress as of October 4.

In the presence of some of their family members, friends, and office staff, Mrs. Ginger Porter Mida, FSM Postmaster General, Mr. Andrew Yatilman, Director of Office of Environment and Emergency Management, Mr. Lorin S. Robert, Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Marion Henry, Secretary of the Department of Resources and Development and Mrs. Jane Gigiyal, FSM Permanent Representative to the United Nations were sworn in by President Mori at the President's Conference Room at 3:30pm.

Also in attendance at the swearing in ceremony was Ambassador Peter Prahar, United State's Ambassador to the FSM.

The remaining five confirmed nominees who have yet to be sworn in include Mr. Akillino Susaia, Ambassador to China, Mr. John Fritz, Ambassador to Japan, Mr. Gerson Jackson, Ambassador to Fiji, and Mr. Samson Pretrick, Deputy Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs.

Mr. Gerson Jackson will need to be relocated out of Guam where he has been serving as the Consul General for the FSM.

Mr. Robert Ruecho has been residing in Guam where he had served as a staff under Governor Felix Camacho as a liaison person between the Government of Guam and the various Micronesian Communities in Guam.

Mr. Samson Pretrick is still in Fiji where he has been serving as the FSM Ambassador to Fiji.

Ambassador Susaia and Ambassador Fritz are already at their respective posts where they have been representing the FSM as Ambassadors.
