Appointments to FSM Girl Scouts Board of Directors

Palikir, Pohnpei (FSM Information Services): October 15, 2009 - Earlier this month, President Mori appointed eight women to serve as members of the FSM Girl Scouts Board of Directors. Those appointed are Mrs. Mary Mudong, Principal of Wapar Elementary School in Pohnpei, Mrs. Trulyn Albert of the FSM-Micronesia Peace Corps Office, Mrs. Penino Ilon of the COM-FSM National Campus, Mrs. Eugenia Samuel of the Micronesian Seminar, Mrs. Josephine Sigeyog of the Department of Civic Affairs in Yap State, Mrs. Monica Leerbay of Kolonia, Pohnpei, Mrs. Salome Martin, the President of the Kosrae Girl Scouts, and Mrs. Emelina Segal of the Pohnpei Family Health Clinic. As a board member, it is their responsibility to ensure that the affairs of the organization are conducted in a manner consistent with the constitution and by-laws of the Girl Scouts organization and with national, state and local laws and regulations.

The FSM Girl Scouts Board of Directors is accountable for providing leadership, direction and vision for the development and achievement of the organization in partnership with each State and National Coordinator. The Board of Directors provides direction and guidance in the development of goals and objectives to meet the needs of girls aged six to seventeen in each State.

In addition to these eight nominees, President Mori also extended the role of adviser member to Dr. Vita A. Skilling, the Secretary of the FSM Department of Health and Social Affairs and to Mrs. Ginger Mida. He also appointed Mrs. Shra Alik, wife of Vice President Alik and National Tobacco Coordinator to be an honorary member.

All appointments are subject to the acceptance by the nominees.
