Congress of the Federated States of Micronesia

Christmas Message

Speaker Isaac V. Figir
15th Congress of the Federated States of Micronesia
Palikir, December 23, 2008

Vice Speaker Resio S. Moses, Floor Leader Joe N. Suka and members of the 15th Congress join me in extending wishes for a very Merry Christmas to the people of the Federated States of Micronesia.

Christmas is for most of us a time for a break from work, for merriment, feastings, presents and most especially a special time for family and friends. While these traditions are varied in celebration, they are however, all premised on one common factor - a birth in Bethlehem long ago.

An event that today remains a powerful symbol of hope for a better future. An event that today remains the greatest leveler in our society of varying cultures, languages and beliefs. It is one of the underlying keystones of our nations' unity.

Therefore as we come together amongst family and friends and look forward to the coming year, let us take time to also reflect upon the many blessings the Lord has bestowed upon us as individuals and as a nation.

My fellow Senators join me, therefore, to wish each and every one of you, a Christmas abundant with blessings of health, peace and happiness. And may the blessing of Christmas also enrich your lives and your loved ones' the New Year through.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
