PMU relocation among first measures of special sessionPalikir, Pohnpei (FSM Congress): March 24, 2009 - The relocation of the Project Management Unit (PMU) to the appropriate department is among the first measures of the Seventh Special Session of the 15th Congress of the Federated States of Micronesia. On Day Three, Congress passed what became Congressional Act (CA) 15-80, which called for the President to "properly place the Project Management Unit for the Compact Infrastructure Grants under the appropriate Department at the FSM National Government [...]" The department noted under the Act is the Department of Transportation, Communications and Infrastructure. The measure has been transmitted to the Office of the President for action. On its Fourth Day, Congress passed on Second Reading a measure to amend Title 36 of the FSM Code on Corporations and Business Associations to facilitate, among other things, an easier avenue for Corporations to register in the FSM. The measure is transmitted to the Office of the President as CA 15-81. Also passed on Second Reading is a measure to amend certain funds previously appropriated under Public Law 15-32 for the States of Chuuk and Pohnpei, it too has been transmitted to the President as CA 15-82. Another measure that passed Second Reading on Day Four is an amendment to funds previously appropriated under Public Law 15-31 for the State of Pohnpei, it has been transmitted as CA 15-83 to the President for action. Following the passage of the measures on Second Reading, Congress went into recess on Thursday and will reconvene on Monday for Day Eight of the Seventh Special Session of the 15th FSM Congress. |
