Governor Walter meets with President UrusemalPALIKIR, Pohnpei (FSM Information Service): February 13, 2004 - A meeting between President Joseph J. Urusemal and Governor Ansito Walter is held at the Foreign Affairs Conference Room February 10, 2004. This is one of several meetings held between the two leaders to discuss several issues which include CIP account reconciliation, the Water Sanitation Project Loan from the Asian Development Bank, the Joint Law Enforcement Agreement between the two governments, FEMA assistance and disaster contributions to Chuuk State, the WIA National Emergency Grant, and removal of MS Nienfeioch from the dockside in Weno. Including on the agenda are unfinished businesses from previous meetings between the two leaders which are the proposed FSM National Health Care Center in Chuuk, the FSM Games and foreign grants, in particular grants from the People's Republic of China. The morning discussion was able to cover the issues relating to the reconciliation of CIP records, the Water Sanitation project and the Joint Law Enforcement Agreement. Basically, staff from both the National Government and the State of Chuuk briefed the two leaders as to the status of work accomplished thus far and the sorts of problems encountered in the process. Before breaking off for lunch, the staffs were instructed to get together in the afternoon to further discuss and improve their findings and to prepare joint communiqués to be signed by both President Urusemal and Governor Walter. |
