FSM Appreciates Continental's Schedule and FarePALIKIR, Pohnpei (FSM Information Service): March 13, 1998 - The Secretary of the Department of Transportation, Communication and Infrastructure expressing appreciation of the ESM for Continental Micronesia Inc., response to FSM's concerns on CMI's services in the FSM. In a March 4, communication, Secretary Lukner B. Weilbacher informing CMI President James B. Ream that the FSM Government approved on February 23, 1998, CMI's service proposal depicting in a February 17 letter to the Secretary. Essentially, CMI's service proposal would enable Continental Micronesia to continue to provide minimum level of services to the FSM and at the same time provide travelers to the ESM and within the FSM flexibility and better connections to points beyond and between the FSM states. It would also improve seat availability to local residents at resident fares, improve service to Kosrae, increase One Pass benefits to FSM residents, while assuring the traveling public that equipment utilizing in this vital air service maintaining at the highest standards possible. Mr. Weilbacher informing Mr. Ream that the ESM Government expecting to file a motion in support of CMI's application with the U.S. Department of Transportation. Continental Micronesia expecting to implement this new schedule by April 1,1998 and filing the necessary schedule and tariff with the FSM Department of Transportation, Communication, and Infrastructure. |
