President Urusemal calls for Special SessionPalikir, POHNPEI (FSM Information Services): March 15, 2005 - A 10-day Special Session of the Thirteenth Congress of the Federated States of Micronesia has been called by President Joseph J. Urusemal to convene on Monday - March 21 2005. In accordance with the FSM Constitution, the President notified Speaker Peter M. Christian on March 3 of his intends for the convening of the FSM Congress so that both Branches can work together on various pressing issues of national importance. In President Urusemal's letter to Speaker Christian he noted among other items, the following amendments for consideration by Congress - submission of un-revised departmental budget proposals, powers of the Registrar of Corporations, corporate income tax and its distribution, several amendments to the Compact distribution and the Compact Management Board along with amendments to National Food Safety Act. The President has urged all the Heads of the National departments and agencies to be available during the Special Session. |
