China's Health Ministry Invites the Honorable Vita Akapito Skilling to participate in Asia and Pacific Regional Ministerial MeetingBeijing, China (FSM Embassy): March 16, 2009 - An invitation letter from the Ministry of Health of the People's Republic of China for the Secretary of Health & Social Affairs, the Honorable Vita Akapito Skilling was transmitted through the Embassy to Palikir for consideration. The invitation is for the Asia and Pacific Regional Health Ministerial meeting scheduled to be held from 29-30 April 2009 in Beijing, China. The Ministerial meeting is in support of the 2009 Economic and Social Council's Annual Ministerial Review (AMR) scheduled for July 2009 at the UN office in Geneva. The upcoming meeting in Beijing is aimed to advance the realization of the United Nations Development Agenda. The meeting will provide a forum for exchange purposes. It will focus on the theme of "Health Literacy" and will address topics ranging from assessing health literacy challenges in Asia, scaling up regional practices to improve health literacy, building literacy from the ground up, and promoting health literacy through opinion-makers and the media. The FSM Embassy looks forward to the visit and participation of Secretary Skilling or her designee to the Asia and Pacific Regional Ministerial Meeting in Beijing.
