FSM Embassy Gears up for the 20^th Anniversary of FSM-China Diplomatic Relations

Beijing, China (FSM Embassy): March 21, 2009 - September 11, 2009 will mark the 20^th anniversary of the establishment of Diplomatic Relations that was forged in 1989 between the Federated States of Micronesia and the People's Republic of China. The FSM Embassy is currently planning on events and programs which will commemorate the anniversary of the relationship. The FSM-China relationship has come to be referred to as the "FSM-China Model Relationship".

This year, with the support of the Department of Foreign Affairs in Palikir, the FSM Embassy in Beijing will be hosting a function in honor of the 20^th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations and the 23^rd Anniversary of the FSM National Day. To coincide with the FSM National Day, this year's 20^th Anniversary celebration is being considered to be celebrated in November 2009.

In efforts to promote the FSM-China Model Relationship and its 20^th anniversary, this year, the Embassy is actively seeking and encouraging more exchanges and cooperation between FSM and China in the areas of tourism, trade, foreign investment, agriculture, education and culture.
