Judge Consuelo Marshal visited the FSMPalikir, POHNPEI (FSM Supreme Court): March 23, 2007 - Judge Consuelo Marshal visited Pohnpei March 1-3, 2007. This is Judge Marshal's first trip to the Federated States of Micronesia as Chairperson of the Pacific Islands Committee. The Pacific Islands Committee (PIC) is responsible for the administration of the training funds provided to the Republic of the Marshall Islands and the Federated States of Micronesia under the Amended Compact of Free Association between the Governments of the United States of America, and the Republic of the Marshall Islands and the Federated States of Micronesia. The purpose of Judge Marshal's visit to the Federated States of Micronesia was to meet the Chief Justices, other Justices as well as employees of the FSM Courts in order to assess the training needs of these courts. While in Pohnpei, Judge Marshal met with the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Federated States of Micronesia, the Honorable Andon L. Amaraich on March 2, 2007, met with the employees of the Court and observed a court hearing that afternoon presided over by Chief Justice Amaraich. She also visited the Pohnpei Supreme Court the same day where she also observed a court proceeding presided over by Chief Justice Judah C. Johnny. Before her departure on March 3, 2007, Judge Marshal visited the famous Nan Madol ruins. Judge Marshal returned to the United States by way of Guam where she spent one and half day observing the Second Annual Pacific Judicial Training Conference for Court Administrators. |
