Mexican Special Envoy Visits the FSMPalikir, POHNPEI (Dept. of Foreign Affairs): April 2, 2008 - H.E. Ambassador Erendira Araceli Paz Campos visited the FSM to deliver a letter from H.E. Felipe Calderon Hinojosa, President of the United Mexican States to H.E. Emanuel Mori. Ambassador Paz Campos met with President Mori, Vice President Alik and Chief of Staff Mida on March 17 where she conveyed the letter from President Hinojosa. In the letter President Calderon requested the support of the Government of the Federated States of Micronesia for his government's candidacy for the non-permanent seat of the UN Security Council for the period 2009-2010. Ambassador Paz Campos also conveyed her government's plan to further promote and strengthen the relations through the accreditation of non-resident Ambassador to the FSM. President Mori welcomed the news and assured Ambassador Paz Campos of his wish to work closely with her government to further strengthen the relations. Ambassador Paz Campos shared with President Mori that as part her government's effort to promote culture exchange and understand, her government is offering scholarships to diplomats of the Asia-Pacific region to study the Spanish in Mexico from July 10 - December 15, 2008. The Government of the Federated States of Micronesia and the Government of the United Mexican States established diplomatic relations in September 2001. |
