Hazmat Training Held in KosraePalikir, POHNPEI (FSM Information Service): April 21, 2006 - The FSM Department of Health Education and Social Affairs announces the completion of a two-part Hazmat training that was held in the States of Kosrae from April 17 to April 21 2006. The first part of the training dealt with the Community Hazard Awareness Industry Safety course. The course was ideal for managers, supervisors and safety personnel with safety and health responsibilities and who handle transport or use Hazardous materials. The second part of the training focused on the OSHA HAZWOPER Hazmat Technical Course, which builds on acquired skills by adding air monitoring and chemical testing procedures and plugging, patching and leak containment skills. In the first course, participants were also introduced to Occupational Safety and Health for General Industry with special emphasis on recognizing the hazards and preventing hazardous material incidents. The training was conducted by AMPRO Consultant, John Scott. Similar trainings are scheduled for the other three states as follows: Pohnpei - April 24 - 28; AMPRO, Inc. is a HAZMAT services company specializing in OE - Ordnance and Explosives related on-site support functions to the construction industry. AMPRO provides services in support of excavation with emphasis on Unexploded Ordnance surveys and clearances, Phase 1 Environmental Assessments, geophysical testing and underground mapping.
