Pohnpei 2nd Annual 10 Kilometer Fitness Run/Walk Held

PALIKIR, Pohnpei (FSM Information Service): April 23, 1997 - The Second Annual Pohnpei 10 kilometer fitness run/walk raised $890 which the owner/manager of Palm terrace Store matched with $1,000, making a total of $1,890, which was presented to Sue Moses, President of the College (of Micronesia) as a donation to the FSM Endowment Fund, following the race at the awards ceremony.

Of the 179 participants, overall winner Elias Rodriquez completed the race within 35 minutes 49 seconds while MJ Mace captured the women championship with 54 minutes 32 seconds. The oldest participant was Allison McConnel and the youngest was Dan Maroni.

The race was sponsored by Palm terrace Store, Ambros Inc., Bud Light, Moylan's Insurance and FSM Amateur Sports Association. FSM Amateur Sports Association and its Sports Director are planning a triathlon and cycling events in the next few months on Pohnpei, Director Jim Tobin said.
