President Mori Meets with Executive Director of Asia Development BankPalikir, Pohnpei (FSM Information Services): June 21, 2010 - On June 18, 2010, President Mori met with Phil Bowen, Executive Director of Asia Development Bank (ADB), and Sally Pedersen, ADB Specialist. Mori expressed to Bowen, the FSM Government's gratitude for the renewed relationship between FSM and ADB. Mori then brought attention to FSM's interest in receiving expert advice from ADB for investments in both the public and private sector. Bowen and Mori both agreed that infrastructure and education should be the priorities in the public sector. Mori specified that in the private sector, investing in tourism, in technologies to ensure higher crop yields and obtaining seed-money to allow for entrepreneurship in connection with the Guam build-up are all key items. The ADB representatives stated they may also be able to provide assistance in performing a feasibility study for the future development of the submarine fiber-optic cable in Chuuk, Kosrae and Yap. |
