FSM and China Signed RMB 20 Million AgreementPalikir, Pohnpei (Department of Foreign Affairs): August 11, 2011 - On the occasion of the FSM Leadership inauguration celebration, a signing ceremony took place at the President's conference room immediately after a courtesy call on President Mori and Vice President Alik by the Special Envoy from the People's Republic of China, Mr. Wang who represented China to the inauguration. Special Envoy Wang expressed the best wishes and congratulations of his government to the President and reaffirmed the existing good relations between the FSM and China. In response, President Mori thanked Special Envoy Wang for the generous support provided by China on the occasion, and for past assistance and economic cooperation extended to the FSM. The President said they not only contribute to the economic and social development of the nation, but further strengthen our bilateral relations. Secretary Robert and Ambassador Zhang signed the agreement on behalf of their respective governments for a grant aid of RMB 20 million. Pursuant to the agreement, the grant aid will be used for project(s) to be agreed upon between the two Governments. Witnessing the signing ceremony were the President and Vice President, Special Envoy from China and his delegation.
