The Goods and Services AgreementPALIKIR, Pohnpei (FSM Information Service): August 17, 2001 - Pohnpei State has been awarded the 2000-2001 Goods and Services Agreement by the Congress of the Federated States of Micronesia. The 2000-2001 Goods and Services with the total amount equivalent to about $500,000 is provided under the bi-lateral fishing agreement between the Federated States of Micronesia and Japan to support coastal fisheries development in the FSM. To implement the goods and services, Pohnpei State has to develop a list of goods and services it wishes to obtain and designate a department to liaise and coordinate with the Micronesian Fisheries Authority. Goods that can be purchased include materials and equipments related to fishing operations and the services include those required for design, transportation and installation of the goods. In his letter to Governor David, Executive Director of MFA, Bernard Thoulag said that the goods and services must be delivered to Pohnpei State no later than March 31, 2002 and the list of goods and services be submitted to the Authority no later than July 1, 2001 for review. The list will then be submitted to the Japanese fisheries Associations to solicit price quotations on the goods and services requested. Later this year, a technical meeting will be held in Japan to finalize the goods and services to be delivered to Pohnpei State. |
