President Signed Congressional Acts into Laws

Palikir, POHNPEI (FSM Information Services): August 24, 2007 - President Manny Mori has signed into Law Congressional measures, which was passed by the Fifteenth Congress of the Federated States of Micronesia, First Special Session, 2007.

PL No. 15-05 to amend P.L No. 14-63 sections (1) to changes uses of certain funds previously appropriated for Public Projects in Chuuk Election No. 5, and for other purposes.

PL No. 15-06 to amend previous Public Laws to change the uses of funds previously appropriated for Election District No. 3, Pohnpei State, and Chuuck State At-Large. In a letter to Speaker Isaac V. Figir President Manny Mori has informed Speaker that he has line item vetoed three items under PL No. 15-06 due to insufficient funds.

PL No. 15-07 amends PL 14-106 section (3) to change the uses of certain funds appropriated for projects and programs in the Pohnpei State, these funds appropriated from the General fund of the Federated States of Micronesia to provide funding for social and economic development projects in the State of Pohnpei.

Include with the Public Laws, seven resolutions has been adopted by the FSM Congress and they are as follows:

Congressional Resolution No. 15-21 - Confirming the nomination of Julius Joey Sapelalut to be the Chief of the Office of the Public Defender of the Federated States of Micronesia.

Congressional Resolution No. 15-23 - To approve the in-principle terms of the acquisition of certain fuel facilities from Mobil Oil Micronesia, Inc. ("MOMI") and of a new nation-wide fuel supply agreement.

Congressional Resolution No. 15-24 - Expressing the gratitude of the Federated States of Micronesia to Mr. Al Gore, former Vice President of the United States of America, for his continuing efforts to heighten international awareness of the emerging crisis due to global warming and climate change.

Congressional Resolution No. 15-26 - Setting the ceiling of the total funds estimated to be available for appropriation from the General Funds of the Federated States of Micronesia for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2007.

Congressional Resolution No. 15-28 - Approving the terms of the agreements with Japan on Distribution of Goods and Services.

Congressional Resolution No. 15-29 - Confirming the nomination of Evelyn Adolph to be member of the Compact Management Board.

Congressional Resolution No. 15-30 - Endorsing the stamp and Philatelic Agency Agreement between the Federated States of Micronesia and the Inter-Governmental Philatelic Corporation.
