UNDP Mission Visits FSMPALIKIR, Pohnpei (FSM Information Service): August 6, 1997 - FSM Vice President Leo A. Falcam informed Pohnpei Governor Del S. Pangelinan in a July 28, 1997, letter that a United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Mission comprising of UNDP Assistant Resident Representative, Shahrokh Mahmmed; UNDP Program Management Officer for Micronesia, Moses Saitala; and Sustainable Development Officer, Jenny Bryant-Tokelau are visiting the FSM from July 30th to August 7, 1997. They arrived Pohnpei State on August 3rd to consult on ways in which UNDP may be of assistance to Pohnpei State in its public sector reform program. UNDP expect to formulate a project document that promoted Pohnpei's effective and efficient public's civil service, utilizing UNDP's own resources but soliciting the funding support of other aid donors for the project. The mission will be leaving on August 7, 1997. The UNDP hopes to follow up its visit with a project formulation mission to finalize the scope and focus of the project based on its meeting with the Economic Policy Advisory Team (EMPAT) and other officials. As funding from UNDP for the FSM in this 6th Cycle is insufficient for this project, UNDP intents to solicit additional funding on behalf of the FSM Government from other donors. Falcam requested Pangelinan to designate a staff who will coordinate schedules of meetings and visits of UNDP Mission with the Department of External Affairs who has been assigned the responsibility of arranging and coordination of the UNDP Mission visit to the FSM. |
