 Compact task force brief states on implementation requirementsPalikir, POHNPEI (FSM Information Services): September 9, 2004 - Vice President Redley Killion and the Compact Implementation Task Force (CITF) are visiting the states this week to brief the leaderships and citizens on the amended Compact implementation requirements. The CITF public education campaign is in light of the recently concluded Joint Economic Management Committee (JEMCO) meeting in Honolulu where in addition to the FSM's budget, issues of Compact implementation compliance were also addressed. Consequently, a performance-tracking matrix was developed to assist the implementation requirements of Federated States of Micronesia. This Performance Tracking Matrix is among the many issues to be addressed by the Task Force during their presentations to the state leaderships and the citizens of the FSM. Detailed in the matrix are implementation activities, issues and statuses, tasks to be accomplished and their deadlines, expected outcomes and responsible departments or agencies. Among the highlighted implementation activities are the following issues: The various development plans for private sector, infrastructure, social services, private sector and capacity building; Compact Trust Fund, Supplemental Education Grant (SEG) and the transition programs; Asian Development Bank's assistance on the PSD and Basic Social Services programs Implementation agreement, FEMA/USAID; and Investment Development Fund (IDF). The Task Force's public education was launched last week the Pohnpei State Government's Executive Branch, followed by the Legislative Branch meeting on Tuesday.
