Nena Orders FSM Flags Lowered for Three Consecutive Days in Honor of Late Raymon SetikPALIKIR, Pohnpei (FSM Information Service): September 5, 1997 - FSM President Jacob Nena on September 5, 1997, issued a proclamation on the late former FSM Senator, the Honorable Raymond Setik, of Chuuk State who passed away in Honolulu, Hawaii, on August 23, 1997. Former Senator, Setik was a highly respected statesman and a leader of Chuuk. His passing, is a loss which is felt throughout the nation, Nena stated. "Now, therefore, on behalf of the people of the nation, I wish to extend our heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the people of Chuuk, the family and friends of the late Setik, and in honor and respect of him, I hereby proclaim that the flag of the Federated States of Micronesia be lowered and flown half mast on all buildings, grounds, and vessels of the National Government throughout the Nation and its overseas offices outside the FSM as an expression of deep sorrow and highest respect for the former FSM Senator from Chuuk State, for the period beginning September 5, 1997, for three days. A copy of this proclamation shall be provided to his family." President Nena is heading a delegation from the National Government members of which include First Lady Lerina, Secretary of External Affairs Epel Ilon, Special Assistant John Mangefel and Post Master General Bethwel Henry who departed Pohnpei for Chuuk on Thursday, September 4th to attend a State Funeral. |
