SBOC Ready to Release Two Publications

Palikir, POHNPEI (FSM Information Service): October 31, 2008 - Two publications, The FSM 2007 International Trade Publication and the 2008 FSM Statistical Yearbook are under printing and would be out to the general public for their use and reference after two weeks according to SBOC.

The information presented in the Statistical Yearbook contains essential and reliable records of achievements and growth over a period of ten (10) years, which can be used in both public and private sectors to aid in making better decisions towards a self-reliance economy for the FSM.

Likewise, the information in the International Trade Publication (ITP) also contains essential information that would be useful for monitoring development progress for the FSM.

As for the Household Income and Expenditure Report (HIES), the result shall be used to rebase the consumer Price Index as well as providing data on the distribution of income and expenditures throughout the nation. The result also shows nutritional information and food consumption pattern for the FSM families.

President Manny Mori reaffirmed in his message for the ITP that the Trade Statistics are critical at the international context for cross country comparisons and also enable a better understanding of the various trading partners which we are trading with in terms of imports and exports of goods
