Endorsement of tax reform program among adopted Resolutions

Palikir, POHNPEI (FSM Information Service): November 1, 2005 - Eighteen Resolutions were adopted by the Fourteenth Congress of the Federated States of Micronesia when its Second Regular adjourned on September 30, 2005.

The Resolutions are:

1. Resolution 14-20: Ratifying the overall agreement between the Republic of the Marshall Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, and the Republic of Palau on Social Security.

2. Resolution 14-21: Confirms the nomination of Mr. Carl Apis to be a member on the Board of Directors of MICARE (The national government employees' health insurance plan).

3. Resolution 14-22: Confirms the nomination of Mr. Marcus Samo to be a member on the board of directors of MICARE (The national government employees' Health insurance plan).

4. Resolution 14-23: Confirms the nomination of Mr. Wincener David to be a member on the Board of Directors of MICARE (The National Government Employees' Health Insurance Plan).

5. Resolution 14-25: Endorsing tax reform for the Federated States of Micronesia as proposed by the Tax Reform Task Force.

6. Resolution 14-26: Expressing the heartfelt condolences of the Fourteenth Congress of the Federated States of Micronesia to the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

7. Resolution 14-28: Recognizing the contributions of Mr.Charles Edward Taylor to aviation history and the ongoing contribution of aviation mechanics to air travel in the FSM.

8. Resolution 14-29: To approve a Pohnpei International airport runway rehabilitation project grant from the United States Government.

9. Resolution 14-31: Requesting the President of the Federated States of Micronesia to direct the Department of Foreign Affairs to develop a plan for the establishment of an FSM Embassy in the People's Republic of China.

10. Resolution 14-32: To approve the agreement on economic and technical cooperation between the Government of the Federated States of Micronesia and the government of People's Republic of China, executed on August 31,2005, in accordance with 55 FSMC section 210.

11. Resolution 14-33: Expressing the appreciation of the Congress of Federated States of Micronesia to the Speaker and members of the Kosrae State Legislature for providing Congress with staffing assistance during the Second Regular Session.

12. Resolution 14-34: Expressing gratitude to the Government of the People's Republic of China for its generosity in providing financial assistance to the Federated States of Micronesia.

13. Resolution 14-35: Setting the ceiling of the total funds estimated to be available for appropriation from the general fund of the Federated States of Micronesia for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2006.

14. Resolution 14-36: Requesting the President of the Federated States of Micronesia to direct the Departments of Economic Affairs and Justice to investigate and report on the ownership, management and operations of Micronesia Long-line Fishing Corporation ("MLFC"), and requesting the national public auditor's office to perform an audit of the financial affairs of MLFC.

15. Resolution 14-37: Congratulating the Government of the People's Republic of China on its 56th Founding Anniversary.

16. Resolution 14-38: Expressing gratitude and appreciation to Mr. Bradley D. Stam for his two years of service, commitment, and dedication in his employment with the Congress of the Federated States of Micronesia.

17. Resolution 14-39: Expressing gratitude and appreciation to Mr. Damien Jeffrey Nichols for his year of service, commitment, and dedication to his employment with the Congress of the Federated States of Micronesia.

18. Resolution 14-40: To shorten the Second Regular Session of the Fourteenth Congress of the Federated States of Micronesia.
