President Mori to Speak on Effects of Guam Buildup on the FSMPalikir, Pohnpei (FSM Information Services): November 16, 2009 - President Manny Mori has been invited by two senators from the 30th Guam Legislature to be a presenter at the 2009 Island Conference on Public Administration on Guam this week. President Mori will speak to a diverse group of island leaders and people from the private sector about the effects of the impending buildup on Guam and how the FSM will be affected. The invitation comes from Senator Judith P. Guthertz, Chairperson of the Committee on the Guam Military Buildup and from Senator Rory J. Respicio, Chairperson of the Committee on Rules, Natural Resources, and Federal, Foreign & Micronesian Affairs. This is the first year this conference is being held and the theme is "The Military Buildup and Beyond: Hinasson Taotao Guahan (The Guam Perspective)." The focus of this event is to provide the Guam civilian perspective of the military buildup along with perspectives of the Freely Associated States. All of the conference proceedings will be published and made available to help ensure that the buildup will be a "win-win" situation for everyone affected. President Mori will be speaking on Thursday, November 19th, 2009 and Secretary of Foreign Affairs Lorin Robert will be accompanying.
