Third FSM Constitutional Convention, Day 8POHNPEI, Palikir (FSM Information Service): November 19, 2001 - Pohnpei Having no proposals introduced this morning, Convention President John Haglelgam urged the Standing Committees to provide short summary of proposals discussed during Committee hearings. So far twenty seven (27) proposals have been introduced, and all have been assigned to Committees for action. For public hearings, the Committee on Civil Liberties and Traditions is scheduled to hold hearings on Delegate Proposal No. 01-7, regarding dual citizenship for FSM citizens, on Wednesday, November 21, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. at the Central Facilities Building. Witnesses invited include Chairman of the Joint Committee on Compact Economic Negotiations, the Secretary of the FSM Department of Justice and its Chief of the Division of Immigration and Labor, the Secretary of the FSM Department of Foreign Affairs, and all its relevant Assistant Secretaries, and any interested individuals. We apologize for our errors in two earlier Press Releases. In the November 15 release, second to last paragraph, regarding D.P. No. 01-16, to change the revenue sharing; it should be read as, "from 50:50 to 80:20." In the same paragraph, but on D.P. No. 01-19, on National Courts jurisdiction regarding land, should read, "where" and not "were" interests in land is at issue. In the November 16 release, first paragraph, we mistakenly reported that the proposal is about changing "the length of term," when the proposed change is in "the number of Senators" for the at-large seats in the Congress, from four to eight members. Convention recessed at 10:47 a.m. and will reconvene tomorrow, November 20, 2001, at 10:00 a.m. |
