FSM Government observes the FSM Veterans of Foreign Wars DayPalikir, POHNPEI (FSM Information Services): November 21, 2007 - The FSM Government and the U.S Government held a joint ceremony on November 12 to honor Veterans and active duty Service men and women from both countries. This is the fourth year that the FSM has observed the FSM Veterans of Foreign Wars Holiday. In attendance at the joint ceremony were President Emauel Mori, U.S. Ambassador Miriam K. Hughes, Australian Ambassador Susan Cox, other FSM Government dignitaries, Veterans and active service duty men and women and their families. The brief ceremony included Statements from President Mori, Ambassador Hughes and Retired S1stC Benito Cantero, U.S Army who represented the FSM Veterans; raising of colors; and laying of wreaths. In their statements President Mori and Ambassador Hughes acknowledged and thanked the Veterans, active duty Service Men and Women for their sacrifice to protect and uphold our freedom. President Mori went on to say that the families of these brave individuals endure their own sacrifices and they should be remembered and commented. President Mori acknowledged the significance contributions of the Veterans to the FSM Government's national building efforts and the unique and special relationship enjoyed with the U.S Government. |
