Nena to KosraePALIKIR, Pohnpei (FSM Information Service): November 21, 1997 - President Jacob Nena left Pohnpei this afternoon (to) Kosrae to join the state leaders in welcoming two United States Senators who will visit Kosrae from November 21-23, 1997, according to Tony Otto, President's Special Assistant. The Secretary of External Affairs Epel Ilon is also traveling to Kosrae to attend the Joint Committee on US/FSM Economic Negotiation meeting scheduled for next week and to join President Nena, Governor Moses Mackwelung and leaders of Kosrae in welcoming Senator Frank Murkwoski and Daniel Akaka and their delegation arriving Kosrae Friday, November 21, 1997 from Yap where they visited the Sate and National leaders. In Yap Vice President Leo Falcam and Congress Speaker Jack Fritz together with Governor Vincent Figir and other leaders welcomed them. The government and civic leaders in Kosrae are planning for an elaborate and busy schedule of activities for the US Delegation including meetings with State Government Leaders, traditional and other leaders and tour of the undergoing projects in Kosrae, according to Special Assistant Josaiah Waguk. The two Senators are accompanied by their spouses and their staffs and Al Stayman from the Department of Interior. It is anticipated that issues on infrastructure needs, program requirements and Compact issues will also be discussed with the delegation. They are traveling on a military plane. |
