Cabinet Members urged to assist 18th MCES preparation processes in the RMIPalikir, Pohnpei (FSM Information Services): November 21, 2012 - FSM Information Services (November 19, 2012): President Manny Mori has urged his cabinet members to consider the proposed agenda for the upcoming 18th Micronesia Chief Executives Summit in the Republic of the Marshall Islands and contribute to its finalization. As a practice, officials from jurisdictions for the Summit gather days ahead of the Chief Executives to finalize recommended discussion focus and draft a communiqué for their review and adoption. "All Cabinet members who could best advice on the issues included in the agenda are urged to go", the President wrote in a November 16 memorandum. The proposed agenda forwarded by the Government of the Republic of the Marshall Islands includes the following items, among others: Micronesian Stone Heritage Project, to be presented by Dr. John Peterson, VP of the University of Guam; Asia-Pacific Center for Strategic Studies - The Environment and Security in the Pacific, to be presented by the United States Department of Defense; Regional Workforce Development, by the Center for Micronesian Empowerment on Guam; and a topic on Micronesian Conservation Trust - Debt Swap for Adaptation Program. The Department of Resourced and Development is responsible for organizing FSM's input and communicating with the Summits organizers for preparations.
