The Federated States of Micronesia Continues to Expand its Reach in the Asia-Pacific RegionBeijing, China (FSM Information Services): December 6, 2013 - The Federated States of Micronesia continued to expand its reach in the Asia-Pacific region. In a short official ceremony today, the Federated States of Micronesia and Mongolia signed a Joint Communiqué on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Mongolia and the Federated States of Micronesia. The signing was done in Beijing, China by the two countries' Beijing-based Ambassadors, His Excellency Mr. Tsedenjav Sukhbaatar of Mongolia and His Excellency Mr. Akillino H. Susaia of the FSM. In their respective comments, both countries acknowledged the signing of the Joint Communiqué as the beginning of a new relation that will require both sides to work together and strengthen it throughout the years to come. In response to Ambassador Tsedenjav's remark for such an historical event, Ambassador Susaia stated that much work is needed to further enhance the relations that the countries will build for the mutual benefit of both countries. Ambassador Susaia expressed the FSM Government's desire to collaborate with Mongolia on issues of mutual interest at both the bilateral level as well as in the international arena. Staff of the two respective Embassies witnessed the ceremony, with Minister Counsellor Jackson Soram accompanying Ambassador Susaia from the FSM side. Both Ambassadors directed their respective staff to commence the legwork to further enhance the relations, including the need to explore the need to cross-accredit Ambassadors. According to the FSM UN Mission Website list of Countries which FSM has diplomatic relations with, Mongolia would be the 71st country on the list. |
