 New FSM Public Information Officer Settles InPalikir, POHNPEI (FSM Information Services): December 16, 2008 - On November 10th, 2008 FSMPIO welcomed its new Special Assistant to the President - Public Information Office, Mr. Patrick Blank. Mr. Blank came on board on the verge of the 10th Micronesian Chief Executives' Summit and 8th Micronesian Presidents' Summit meetings and got right down to work writing speeches for the President, coordinating press releases, handling logistics for the MCES and managing the staff and events of the PIO office. Previously, Mr. Blank had been working for Micronesian Seminar as a videographer and assisted the PIO office with media support. He also has background in education, administration, sales and marketing. After spending 6 years in the States, he and his family have moved back to Pohnpei and he has joined the President's office as a Special Assistant to the President heading the Public Information Office. Some of the his goals for the office are to preserve existing information contained in the office, expand the capabilities of PIO in getting out information in a timely manner, and help the States and local media outlets get information out to the people of FSM and the world. He has been tasked by the President to create a network of PR contacts in each Department and Office of the Executive Branch and increase the amount of information that is released to the public from these offices. In doing so, there will be greater information available and more transparency to what the government agencies are doing.
