Presidential Order Ratifies 2008 Agreement with People's Republic of ChinaPalikir, Pohnpei (FSM Information Services): December 16, 2009 - On December 11, 2009, President Manny Mori signed a Presidential Order to ratify an agreement made on September 6, 2008 executed by the FSM Department of Resources and Development (R&D) on behalf of the Government of the Federated States of Micronesia and the People's Republic of China (PRC) to send five medical doctors to work in the State of Chuuk for two years. The agreement was made between then Secretary of R&D, Hon. Peter Christian, and the Vice Minister of the Ministry of Commerce of the PRC. In the Agreement, the Government of the PRC further agreed to provide salaries for the medical doctors, necessary air tickets, expenditures of living, administrative expenses, personal medical treatment, house rent, and transportation expenses in the total amount of RMB 3,600,000. These doctors are currently living and working in Chuuk. In the Presidential Order, President Mori instructs all departments and agencies of the FSM National Government to comply with the terms and provisions of the Agreement and notifies the Department of Justice to issue any necessary immigration permits to facilitate the uninterrupted stay of the Chinese medical doctors while they are performing their assigned duties pursuant to the Agreement. |
